How to Measure for Your Formal Shirt
- Neck Size
- Measure the circumference of your neck with two fingers between the tape and your neck for comfort.
- Ensure the tape follows the natural collar position, sitting under the Adam's apple.
- Sleeve Length
- With your shirt buttoned, lay it face down.
- Measure from the Shoulder attachment to the cuff edge.
- Shirt Chest
- Button your shirt and lay it flat.
- Measure from the armhole at the side seam across to the opposite side.
- Multiply that number by 2 for the chest measurement.
- Shirt Waist
- Lay your shirt flat and measure across the side seam at the slimmest part (about halfway between the armhole and hem).
- Multiply that number by 2 for the waist measurement.
- Shirt Length
- Lay the shirt flat, facing down.
- Measure from the center back of the collar to the bottom hem for the back body length.
